Województwo Kujawsko-Pomorskie Cuiavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship Known to be a attractive region in Poland and located in mid northern part of the country.

The province of Kujawsko-Pomorskie has almost 18,000sq Km and 2.1 million inhabitants. The province is situated on both sides of the longest Polish river – the Vistula, within the Pomeranian and Masurian Lakeland on the lower Vistula, Brda, Dręca and Noteć Rivers.

The region was established in 1999 and includes the former provinces of Bydgoszcz, Torun and Wloclawek.

Administration

The provincial authorities are located in Bydgoszcz (the voivode) and at Torun (the provincial sejm assembly) and within the province are 51 towns and some 2500 villages. It has four municipal districts and nineteen Powiats or rural districts.

The main towns in Kujawsko-Pomorskie are Bydgoszcz with about 367,000 inhabitants, Toruń has about 200,000, Włocławek 120,000, Grudziądz 100,000 and Inowrocław 78,000. 61.4% of the population of the region live in urban areas.

Tourism

If you decide to visit the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, you can explore and discover it's vast forests, charming relaxing lakes, delightful rivers, many traditional polish villages and interesting historical monuments. There are many activities that you can indulge in such as mushroom picking (if you care for that sort of activity), fishing in one of the many lakes, water sports of most kinds, horse riding, to name but a few. Also you may ‘touch the Gothic' here and see the place in which a famous astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus was born.

Discover how people in the past lived in the region during the Iron Age. Before you move on make sure that you have sampled regional delicacies, like Toruń gingerbread or traditionally made plum purée.

Education and Industry

There are a dozen or so higher education institutions. Many of these perform important scientific researches, with the most important ones being: The University of Nicolaus Copernicus in Toruń, The University of Casimir the Great and Technological-Natural University, both are situated in Bydgoszcz.

The Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship has an important food industry making up for 30% of the total industrial production of the region, with many enterprises returning to or continuing with the traditional ecological manufacture of past times. The region is also a leader in introducing new technologies and has recently created a Special Economic Zone in Łysomice where they were allowed to open a Sharp manufacturing establishment as well as other Japanese and Korean factories. The regional authorities now support many new start up enterprises such as, The Centre of Technological Transfer in Toruń and The Toruń Technological Park.

The region also has an increasing broadband Internet network and the main airport can be found at Bydgoszcz.

The Kujawsko-Pomorskie Province boasts that they have 9 landscape parks, 91 nature reserves, 31 protected landscape areas, 5 nature-landscape complexes, and almost 2,000 natural open spaces.
