Rzeszów Travel Guide - Rzeszów is a place in south eastern Poland in the province of Podkarpackie, a city in south-eastern Poland on the Wislok River with a population of 185,100 inhabitants, as of 2014.
Rzeszów is a major rail and road junction on the route running from Krakow to Lvov and is the capital and largest city of the Subcarpathian Voivodeship since 1 January 1999 and was previously within the Rzeszów Voivodeship from 1945 to 1998.

During the Middle Ages the site of the present city was a fortified border settlement of the Sandomierz Duchy. It returned to Poland in 1340 and was granted a town charter in 1354.
The town was in the hands of a number of families such as Rzeszowski, Ligeza and Lubomirski. From 1772 it was part of Austria and between the World Wars it was incorporated into Poland's Central Industrial District.
The old city centre with it's market square surrounded by town houses built from the 17th to 20th century and the Town Hall built in the late 19th century. One of these buildings houses the Ethnographical Museum about the folklore from the Rzeszów region.
Polska is full of history and the Polish are great lovers of knowledge of the past so you will find many museums in the country, whether it be a folk, military, science, skansen, transport or any other type.
Poland has a long history and has been an important trading route that has been invaded by many different groups over the past 1,000 years. Museums are a great way to explore the nations history about the inhabitants of the land in the past, their lives and customs.
