Cancelled Flight FR2224 TZDYGN Tallinn to London Stansted Monday 18 September 2017

I am writing to claim compensation for the cancelled flight from Tallinn, Estonia to London Stansted on Monday 18 September 2017 together with additional costs incurred as a direct result of the cancelled flight.

On the 15th September 2017 I received an email from Ryanair advising that my flight had been cancelled. I tried several times to use the links in the email but they would not work so I tried to contact you via the telephone number given by the Tallinn Airport staff but no one at your end answered it. I was not in Tallinn at the time and could not get to the airport until the Sunday before my departure. I must have tried to contact you at least five times but your website is useless and every time I tried your chat help it was unavailable.

When I got to Tallinn Airport on the Sunday I was advised that all Ryanair fights to London were fully booked until the 24 September 2017.

I therefore travelled from Tallinn to Riga in Latvia by coach Sunday evening and booked into a hotel costing me more expense and wrecking my holiday. I have lost two days out of my holiday due to your cancelled flight.

Monday morning I went to Riga Airport and was informed by the airport staff that all Ryanair flights to London were fully booked until the following weekend. The fact that you do not have any Ryanair staff at the airports you fly to is deplorable.

I therefore had no option but to book with another airline, Wizzair on a flight to London latter that day. On arriving at London Luton Monday evening I had to get the National Express coach to Stansted Airport in order to pick up my car.

I therefore make a claim against Ryanair for the following: –

Travel from Tallinn to Riga by coach EUR 17.00 exchange rate 1.12812 = £15.07

Hotel accommodation in Riga for Sunday night EUR 42.00 - Rixwell Domus Hotel Riga LV 42.000000 EUR at 1.12812 = £37.23 + Bank charge £0.74

Cost of Wizzair flight to London Luton EUR 219.99 - Wizz Air Hu U8EWNC_2E4YL https://wizzai HU £211.40 (taken from my bank statement).

Cost of National Express coach from London Luton Airport to Stansted Airport £16.10

Compensation for cancelled flight Tallinn to London Stansted under EU261/2004 – 14.2 Notice – Flight distance 1744.92 Kilometres therefore compensation is EUR 400 – exchange rate 1.12812 = £312.20

The total claim is therefore £592.74. I include copies of receipts and invoices where appropriate.

The rules state that airlines must provide passengers with accommodation, meals and refreshments and transport between the airport and accommodation. Airlines are breaking the rules if they shirk this obligation.


I do hope that you will agree to settle this claim quickly but should you not I will contact the CAA with details of the claim.
