Tarnów Travel Guide - a place in south eastern Poland in the province of Malopolska. Tarnów is a city in south-eastern Poland, with a population of 115,341, the metropolitan area includes 312,000 inhabitants, as of June 2009.

The city has been situated in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship since 1st January 1999, but was previously from 1975 to 1998 the capital of the Tarnów Voivodeship. It is a major rail junction, located on the strategic east-west connection from Lviv to Kraków. Also, from Tarnów two additional lines stem - a southwards main line to the Slovakian border via Stróże, as well as a minor northwards line to Szczucin (now defunct).

The city dates back to the Middle Ages when it was a settlement at the territory of the present Tarnowiec village. In 1330 it was moved and received municipal rights. The centre of the city is the Market Square with its medieval layout and is lined with burgher style houses, some having arcades that were built during the Renaissance period. Many were later rebuilt but still retain much of the original features.

The Town Hall was built in 14th century and extended by G.M. Padovano in the 16th century being a mixture of Gothic and Renaissance styles.

Polish cuisine (Polish: kuchnia polska) is a style of cooking and food preparation originating from Poland. It has evolved over the centuries due to historical circumstances. Polish national cuisine shares some similarities with other Central European and Eastern European traditions as well as French and Italian similarities. It is rich in meat, especially pork, chicken and beef (depending on the region) and winter vegetables (cabbage in the dish bigos), and spices.
