Nowy Targ Travel Guide - a place in south eastern Poland in the province of Małopolska. Nowy Targ is a district town (Latin: Novum Forum, Slovak: Nový Targ, German: Neumarkt) in southern Poland with 34,100 inhabitants as of 2006.

It is the historical capital and a major industrial centre of the mountain region of Podhale, with a 660-year history, known by all as the City of Mountaineers.

The town is situated at the confluence of the rivers Biały (white) and Czarny (black) Dunajec, in a valley beneath the Gorce Mountains.

It's in Nowy Targ County, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, Malopolska. From 1975 to December 1998 it was in the Nowy Sącz Voivodeship.

The town is a great base for the Tatras, Pieniny, Lake Czorsztyńskie and Babia Góra. There are many hiking trails in the area.

Nowy Targ is a traditional centre for crafts such as the manufacturing of clothing with coats and leather jackets known throughout the Poland.

Geography of Nowy Targ

The town is situated at the confluence of the rivers Biały (white) and Czarny (black) Dunajec, in a valley beneath the Gorce Mountains. It's in Nowy Targ County, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, Malopolska.

From 1975 to December 1998 it was in the Nowy Sącz Voivodeship.

Nowy Targ is in the heart of the vast basin Orawa - Nowy Targ, about 24 km north of Zakopane on the route to Krakow and is at Latitude: 49°28′ N, Longitude 20°01′ E, Altitude 585 to 680 metres.
