The Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodship, or in Polish, województwo warmińsko-mazurskie, is situated in north-eastern Poland. The region was created on 1st January 1999, out of the former Olsztyn Voivodeship and parts of Suwałki and Elbląg Voivodeships, pursuant to the Polish local government reforms of 1998. The name of the province refers to the two historic names: Warmia and Mazury.
